Haircuts & Styling

Haircuts, Blowouts & Waxing in Mashpee, MA

Cuts that grow out well, blowouts that hold, and the small things — a brow shape, a bang trim — that finish the job.

A haircut should work on the mornings you have twenty minutes and the mornings you have five. That’s the standard we cut to at Illusions — not the photo on your phone, but your hair as it actually behaves once you’re out the door.

This page covers cutting, styling, perms and facial waxing. For color, see our highlights or balayage and lived-in color pages; for frizz, our smoothing treatments; and men have their own page for cuts and grey blending.

Haircuts

Every cut starts with a proper consultation. We look at your hair’s texture, density and growth pattern, ask honestly how much time you want to spend on it each morning, and cut something you can actually maintain. If a look won’t hold up on your hair type, we’ll say so before we start rather than after.

Growing your hair out? Come in anyway. Regular dusting of the ends keeps hair healthy and actually gets you to length faster than avoiding the salon for a year.

Blowouts & Styling

A blowout is the fastest way to feel put together, and it’s one of the busiest things we do — for an event, a photograph, or just because it’s Friday.

A blowout generally holds two to three days — longer with a silk pillowcase and a little dry shampoo at the roots. In July and August, Cape Cod humidity shortens that considerably, which is why a lot of our guests pair blowouts with a smoothing treatment over the summer.

Getting married? Formal styling for weddings has its own page: bridal hair and party styling.

Perms

Perms have a reputation earned in the 1980s that modern formulas have long outgrown. Done well, a perm adds body and movement to fine or flat hair — not tight curl, just the shape that makes a blowdry hold and gives your hair something to work with.

We’ll assess your hair’s condition and color history at consultation first. Perms and heavily lightened hair don’t always mix, and we’d rather tell you that upfront. From $105+, with a haircut added to the service at $45+.

Facial Waxing

Small services, but they finish everything else. Brow shaping in particular changes a face more than most people expect, and it’s the one we do most.

Most guests add waxing onto a cut or color appointment rather than booking separately. Mention it when you book and we’ll allow the extra few minutes.

Booking & What to Expect

Appointments are recommended, and from Memorial Day through Labor Day they’re close to essential — Cape Cod fills up and Saturdays go first. Booking online takes a minute and lets you request the same stylist each time, which is worth doing once and then forgetting about.

New guest? Say so when you book and we’ll allow extra time for a proper consultation. We’d rather spend ten minutes getting it right than rush you into a cut you don’t love.

Common Questions

How often should I get my hair cut?

Most guests come in every six to eight weeks. Shorter, more structured cuts lose their shape faster and often need refreshing at six weeks; longer layered styles can stretch to ten or twelve. If you’re growing your hair out, regular dusting of the ends keeps it healthy without losing length.

Yes, we cut hair for all ages with pricing tiers for younger children. Our stylists are patient with first haircuts and happy to work quickly for children who’d rather be somewhere else. Booking a parent and child back to back is usually the easiest way to handle both.

A professional blowout typically holds two to three days, longer if you sleep on a silk pillowcase and use dry shampoo at the roots. Cape Cod humidity shortens that, which is why many guests pair a blowout with a smoothing treatment during the summer.

Yes. Modern perms are far gentler than the ones people remember, and they’re a good option for adding body and movement to fine or flat hair. We’ll assess your hair’s condition and color history at consultation before recommending one.

We offer brow, lip and chin waxing. Brow shaping is the most requested, and many guests add it to a cut or color appointment rather than booking separately. Mention it when you book so we can allow the extra few minutes.
